Invited as media guest in TEDxKL Woman Event

Honourably I was invited exclusively by TEDxKLWomen to be a guest in their 2nd worldwide event - "Money is Invented Here" happening on 5th December 2013. I will have the privilege to choose my own favourite speaker for having 1-to-1 personal interview session in getting insight how they can be so successful. From all the speakers list, I've chosen the famous food artist, Samantha Lee.

TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, how ideas or passion transformed into making money and profit. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED). Since then, they started to expanded from conference call to video talks, and then to the live talk. Most of the TED events are run locally and concurrently, interestingly most of the sessions in worldwide are run simultaneously if the time zone permits.

On the actual day, I bumped into so many familiar faces - range from the bloggers, DJ, my Hankerie customers, my full-time job boss, me ex clients and friends. Gosh, this indeed caught into my surprise, at first some of them thought I am one of the speaker to share my success story. LOL.

If you see the crowd on the day (picture below), you will definitely know how overwhelmed the response on the attendance. Most of them attended the similiar first TEDxKL event last year.

While waiting for the event to start, taking some photo to promote the TEDxKL Women T-shirt.

Snapping the photo of my front row of media guest seat.

Michelle helped us (Swee San & I) to take the photo.

The 1st speaker - Melody Hossaini (The Apprentice UK 2011, Founder of InspireEngage). She shared about her story, from where she born, her life until her social enterprise success. Sometimes it is good to document down what do you want to achieve in your life to get clearer direction.

She is so pretty, and fortunately I managed to take a photo with her post her speech.

The 2nd speaker - Sereni & Shentel (Headband Designers). Both of them located at Kuching Sarawak, they are headband designer, invented their crazy custom and headband. They indeed transformed their passion into business successfully, indeed this is really niche market in Malaysia. Their headband appears in "Desperate Housewives" before!!

3rd speaker - Rachel Koay (Queens Hostel, Penang). She is the youngest speaker among all of the speakers. In her age, she already owns two hostel in Penang. She and her business partner gotten the capital from the strangers instead of family members or relatives. Altogether, they have 20 investors in her startup business who invested 10k per person. This is rather amazing story, from her day dreaming into reality. Salute.

4th Speaker - Cheryl Yeoh (Founder of CityPockets). I love the way she is presenting, extremely structures. Her story is the most inspired as she previously do not know what exactly is she passion is until too many passions, and not all the passions can lead you immediate success. You will need time to explore it but the longer time that you've tried, the passion will be going down trend in another words. Her view is very different, not just follow your passion as you really need to try out and see the result, knows the demand and start from there.

5th Speaker - Samantha Lee (Adorable Food Art for Kid’s Meal). She is an extremely creative person who created food art for her two daughters. Food is not only look nice and they need to have STORY! She never use any expensive decorating tool to create all these amazing piece of works, all she use is those basic kitchen tools.

6th Speaker - Kafayat Quadri. She has a lot of jobs and she poses passion which is singing with her guitar. I will upload her short clip into Youtube later.

7th Speaker - Tintoy Chuo & Take Huat (Peperangan Bintang: Star Wars in Wayang Kulit). They improvised the old traditional Wayang Kulit into futuristic Star Wars Wayang Kulit. One of them is graphic designer, by using their creativity to transform the Star Wars character into typical traditional Wayang Kulit Character. Their motive is to encourage the young generation to appreciate the wayang kulit. In fact, they are really successful as from this 18 minutes presentation, I did learn a lot on the traditional Wayang Kulit characters.

We have the privilege to watch this Peperangan Bintang: Star Wars in Wayang Kulit preview, yes, they made into a movie!!!

Last speaker - Joanne Kam (Malaysia’s Comedian). She is the funniest speakers among all, genuine in presenting and shared all her life story. She went through a lot of difficulties to reach who is she today, all earn from hard way.

I love the way she said "I did my own presentation slide, this is not copied from internet". Her theory on how she gets so success, whatever you think and you can realise it one day by yourself. She will have her first movie (main character) launch next year - Super Kam!

After all the wonderful and inspired speeches, we (media guest) have taken the photo with these speakers and the crew.

Ending this event with my 1-to-1 session with Samantha Lee.

Valuable info. Lucky me I discovered your website accidentally, and I'm surprised why this twist of fate didn't happened
earlier! I bookmarked it.
