Homemade Kiwifruit Lollipop for Xmas Party

3 simple ingredients can make into delicious Homemade Kiwifruit Lollipop. It is always headache to think of party food that you can prepare way upfront. With the simplest ingredients on hand, I've invented this recipe - Homemade Kiwifruit Lollipop. This recipe is not only easy to make but also fun to make, you may try to do together with your kids during this festive.

My Homemade Kiwifruit Lollipop is free of any preservative or colouring, safe for the kids on consumption. If you afraid the sugar level is too high, you may reduce the sugar recipe to 10% lesser. Be careful when you heat the sugar, prepare the glove while taking the sauce pan.

Of course, if you do not have any lollipop mold at home, you may made them into round lollipop onto baking paper. Or any shape that you would like to be, just think creatively! Have fun making and enjoy!

Invited as media guest in TEDxKL Woman Event

Honourably I was invited exclusively by TEDxKLWomen to be a guest in their 2nd worldwide event - "Money is Invented Here" happening on 5th December 2013. I will have the privilege to choose my own favourite speaker for having 1-to-1 personal interview session in getting insight how they can be so successful. From all the speakers list, I've chosen the famous food artist, Samantha Lee.

TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, how ideas or passion transformed into making money and profit. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED). Since then, they started to expanded from conference call to video talks, and then to the live talk. Most of the TED events are run locally and concurrently, interestingly most of the sessions in worldwide are run simultaneously if the time zone permits.

On the actual day, I bumped into so many familiar faces - range from the bloggers, DJ, my Hankerie customers, my full-time job boss, me ex clients and friends. Gosh, this indeed caught into my surprise, at first some of them thought I am one of the speaker to share my success story. LOL.

If you see the crowd on the day (picture below), you will definitely know how overwhelmed the response on the attendance. Most of them attended the similiar first TEDxKL event last year.

While waiting for the event to start, taking some photo to promote the TEDxKL Women T-shirt.

Snapping the photo of my front row of media guest seat.

Michelle helped us (Swee San & I) to take the photo.

The 1st speaker - Melody Hossaini (The Apprentice UK 2011, Founder of InspireEngage). She shared about her story, from where she born, her life until her social enterprise success. Sometimes it is good to document down what do you want to achieve in your life to get clearer direction.

She is so pretty, and fortunately I managed to take a photo with her post her speech.

Kiwifruit Bread Tart

What will you do with leftover bread? Throw away? No way!! I've transformed these plain leftover bread to something else, it calls as Kiwifruit bread tart. In fact, I always think that it is so tedious to make own tart shell from scratch especially they are buttery sweet in the taste. It will taste even sweeter if you match with custard as the filling.

With bread as the crusty tart shell, fresh kiwifruits and custard as feeling. The whole combination of this taste gave me the whole new experiences. This experiments does not come easy, I've tried few times of trial and error, from the thoughts on how to make the perfect shape until the crusty taste. By using the easiest way, flatten them and roll into muffin pan or tart tin, making them into tart shape. Of course, bake them in the oven first prior putting any fillings.

In terms of bread tart taste, you may opt for different type of bread. I've tried both plain and wholemeal breads, they all turned out perfectly fine with my method below. The tips here is eat them fresh from oven. If you would like to keep for few more days, you can store them in fridge and reheat them before serving.

This is my easiest tart recipes ever, I've just spent 20 minutes from preparing until baking. Bake this together with your kids, let their creativity flows to make different kind of shape as long as the bread tart can hold the fillings

Homemade Spring Onions crab stick bread

Simply love homemade bread. Everybody can do own nice and fluffy bread, just need patience to wait for its proofing time. Today I am making fresh spring onions crab stick homemade buns. This recipes are improvised from my steamed bun recipes, uniqueness of the onions mixtures - spring onions and onions make the baked bun's taste to the next level. These spring onions are freshly plucked from my organic garden.

Once you take a bite, your mouth would be bursting with the onions buttery fragrance, a little bit of sweetness of crab stick in the middle, together with the slightly sweet, soft bun.

Minion in Halloween series

Tomorrow is Halloween. This is the biggest holiday to western world, second to Christmas. The word Halloween is an abbreviation of All Hallows' Evening also known as Hallowe'en or All Hallows' Eve. It's quite similiar to Chinese's Ghost festival, instead the whole month, Halloween just happen in one night on 31st October yearly.

Traditional activities include trick-or-treating, bonfires, costume parties, visiting "haunted houses" and carving jack-o-lanterns. In conjunction for me to show case some Minion series on TV, I've designed and created these 12 little cute Halloween series cupcakes.

Happy Halloween to everyone!

Hankerie in ASEAN Coffee & Art Fringe Event 2013 @ Publika

Another first time for Hankerie to be invited honourbly as part of a food vendor in ASEAN Coffee & Art Fringe Event 2013 on 28-29th September 2013. Thanks to Karen, their marketing director for giving me golden opportunity. So glad that she likes my creativity on my bakes art, where my art combined together with all my bakes.

Right after my previous week event in Bangsar, I need to rush for this bigger event immediately. Tiring because I still need to work over the weekday, start my preparation only after my work hours. Indeed, that 2 continuous weeks are my most tiring period throughout my Hankerie's journey, everything paid off whenever seeing my bakes sold in just few hours! After this, I will definitely take a long break and go for a trip!

The crowd to this coffee event are mainly coffee lovers, cafe/restaurant owner, youngsters and family. Can you spot me in the photo below? I'm at middle left part of the picture below.

My best seller is Minion series. It attracted so many crowds to snap photo, including the newspaper reporter. My Minion swissroll and cupcakes are being published in Metro Online Broadcast 2 days after this events, which links from The Star Newspaper. A lot of people has courtesy to ask my permission whether they can take a photo of them, surprisingly.

I added on one new member into Minion family - Evil Minion.

Caught into my surprise to see my Minion cupcakes in the headlines of Metro Online Broadcast which directly linked from The Star Newspaper.

I'm really glad to invite one of my talented chef friend - Kayvin to assist me in this event to sell the hot food. He is so passionate about cooking, creative in creating his dishes and serve to the guest. Impressive plate presentation that he has done. Thumbs up!

3 unique sample hot food prepared by chef Kayvin. They are not only looks good, but also taste so delicious.

3 more additional product I've added on for these events, they are Hello Kitty fondant cupcakes with Japaense edition - black Kitty cat.

My own creation of expensive recipes - indulgence chocolate brownies with 3 different nuts. I called it expensive as all my ingredients are top quality ingredients. It really make a lot of difference when you have the first bites of these versus those buying from outside. This is the power of home bakes goods.

Another of my 100% proof biscotti recipe, you cannot run away of biscotti with coffee. The best mate ever when you enjoying a cup of hot coffee. It's crunchiness and dryness give coffee a perfect match. For those ladies who watch out their weight, good news that biscotti not contains any butter or any sort of fats :)

In average, all my bakes of the day totally sold out within 3-4 hours. Impressive but these are the bakes that I can do for maximum in a day. I hope that I can do more for not disappointing those kids. I still vividly remembered there are few of the kids kept came back to my Hankerie booth and asked "Do I still have Minion cupcakes or any bakes?" When the answer is "No more" to them, they looked so disappointed and sad. One of the kid not believing and asked his dad to came back again for asking twice. Overall, such an unique experiences in this event, learnt different things versus the event in Bangsar.

Again, thanks all who dropped by and supported us during this event :)

                                      Hankerie's bakes sell in Bangsar!

Hankerie first time goes retail. This is my 1st experience to sell my bakes in public, the mixed feeling of exciting and worrying. Exciting to see the public response towards my artisan bakes, while worrying to see nobody will pay this amount of money to buy these bakes. The latter one proof it wrong after the first day of my Bangsar Shopping Complex event. All my bakes sold out in few hours, ended up I need to rush back home to bake everything for the next day sale.

Well, I would like to share about all my preparation works before this 2 days event. It was like back to 1 month before, I started to do the planning, how to design my table, booth decoration, bakes menu and engaged some of my friends to help out with. In the end, I planned to sell my signature bakes - most of my designer series and organic pesto sauce.

Self drawn black board art, spent about 2 hours to finish this design.

This 2 days artisan market which held in Bangsar Shopping Complex (BSC) on 21st and 22nd September, it is also the last artisan event of the year of 2013. I was fortunate to be invited and joined as one of the food vendor, unfortunately my booth is joint with the craft vendor instead of other food vendors which located in Annex area. The crowd is lesser than the Annex area. In fact, it is really a bless to see most of the crowd towards my booth are really buying my home bakes goods. What a relieve!

This will not be a success without my family support. Indeed, I really underestimate the effort from preparation, baking, washing, packing, transporting, selling and etc. This whole process is so exhausted, it wont be achieved just by myself. Really thanks to my husband, mum in law and brother in law who helped me from end to end.

Now, let's see what I have baked for the sale. 1st is my signature Japanese Cream puff. Fresh out from oven.

Serve these treats with my home made custard, fresh cream and fresh fruits. All sold out in seconds.

Next is my premium Belgium moist chocolate cupcake and healthy banana cupcake with walnut.

All comes with my own packaging idea, 6 in one box, you can mix and match the flavour in a box.

Of course, I wont left my Minion family out. Minion macarons, every single little kids so irresistible to grab them.

Minion cupcakes!!! I only started to sell in my 2nd day of event, the response is unexpectedly overwhelmed.

Limited edition of my designer swiss rolls, that's the maximum I can do for 1 day. Tough job.

Last but not least is my home made pesto sauce, with my own idea of packaging. The material cost is expensive but worth to make them pretty and good for storage.

Free of any preservative and colouring, my home grown basil gone just in one day. I need to wait for few more months to produce for next batch.

To summarise this, it's really interesting and good exposure to see how public response to my bakes, happy to see return customer from 1st day, some even know my Hankerie's online presence and see the bakes sold out in few hours. All these encourage me to move on. Despite of the tiredness, I've more things to look forward and prepare for the following week event - 2013 Asean Coffee and Art event in Publika. It's really tough when you do this alone and on top of that still working full time job at the same time. I will share about Publika event in next post.

Thanks to all of the support especially to those who dropped by :)

It's time to back to work after 1 month's long leave to focus on my Hankerie. Kiwi Moonlight Mooncake

Time flies. Today is my last day of Zespri Kiwi challenge, mark my Kiwi project Go live date. It has been "fruitful" 2 weeks, fruitful due to plenty of kiwis in my daily diet consumption. In these 14 days, I realized that kiwi fruit not only as dessert, but it can be served in any kind of format of the food and bakes. Versatile to well match or complement with anything. The unique sourness and sweetness, can be only uniquely find in kiwi fruit.

For my last day of challenge, I've created my Kiwi signature dish throughout this kiwi project journey. This is my Kiwi mooncake aka moonlight mooncake. The reason of moonlight is, I love the transparency of the jelly, fresh slices of green kiwi and sungold kiwi reflected its light through the jelly wall. You can straightaway tell which one is green kiwi mooncake or sun gold mooncake. Can you guess the following, which one is green and which one is yellow sun gold?

I did quite a lot of series mooncake before, in fact I still prefer jelly mooncake. First is that less sweet and not oily at all. This signature kiwi mooncake is totally healthy for old folks or kids, as it contains of full range of protein and vitamin. If you still prefer the conventional jelly mooncake, you can basically add on another layer of lotus paste or red bean paste in between.

Wish all my readers and followers Happy Mid-Autumn Festival 2013 in advance first.

Cut into half and see the texture of each layer.

                                                                                            Lotus-look Sun Gold Jelly Mooncake

                                                                                            Lotus-look Sun Gold Jelly Mooncake
